Tabula Named Finalists of Prestigious 2010 EETimes ACE Award
For Most Promising New Technology

Santa Clara, Calif., March 30, 2010 - EE Times Group, a UBM company and the daily source of essential business and technical information for the electronics industry’s decision makers, today announced Tabula was named a finalist of the prestigious 2010 EE Times ACE Award (www.eetimes-ace.com) for Most Promising New Technology.

“The 2010 finalists represent the execution of forward-thinking technologies and creativity that captures the imagination of consumers, illustrating the influence that electronics and embedded design professionals have on today’s culture” said Junko Yoshida, editor in chief, EE Times.”

Tabula’s technology was selected as a finalist due to its groundbreaking programmable logic architecture that uses time as a third dimension to deliver unmatched capability and affordability. Tabula achieves this breakthrough by combining the Spacetime hardware that dynamically reconfigures logic, memory, and interconnect at multi-GHz rates with the Spacetime compiler that manages this ultra-rapid reconfiguration transparently. In addition, Tabula preserves a traditional design methodology. As a result, Spacetime will enable a new class of programmable devices that combines the capability of an ASIC with the ease of use of an FPGA at price points suitable for volume production.

Tabula has leveraged Spacetime to deliver its first generation of 3-Dimensional Programmable Logic Devices (3PLDs) called ABAX. Tabula’s ABAX 3PLDs have significant density advantages and dramatically shorter interconnects when compared to current generation FPGAs that use 2-D architectures. As a result, ABAX enables high-performance, compute-intensive applications on a programmable platform at volume price points. Providing programmability in applications historically served only by ASICs or ASSPs, ABAX resets the bar for the capability and density of programmable logic, memory and signal processing while maintaining a familiar design flow. Designed for a wide range of applications, ABAX devices will initially target the telecom, enterprise, and wireless infrastructure markets.

“It is an honor for our team to be nominated for a prestigious EE Times ACE Award for Most Promising New Technology,” said Steve Teig, Tabula President and Chief Technology Officer. “Our innovative, Spacetime programmable logic architecture uses time as though it were a third spatial dimension, resulting in significantly smaller and faster devices than today’s interconnect-bound FPGAs and expanding the opportunities for programmable devices in production.”

The EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards celebrates the creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global industry and shape the world we live in. Awards will be presented on April 27th during the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley. Awards are presented in 11 categories and are judged by the editors and a blue-ribbon panel of industry experts, comprised of the leading voices of academia, industry and Wall Street executives.
